Running Track
A lot of people say that running is addictive. Ask anyone who regularly runs and you will get different answers. Everyone who runs has different motivations. Some run to lose weight, while others run to keep themselves healthier and happier. Whatever reasons they may have, profound or shallow reasons, it still is their motivation to keep on going.
Honestly, running is pretty tough. In fact, you may not know this, but it is considered as one of the riskiest sports there is. Imagine tons of pressure pounding on your knees everyday. Plus, the repetitive nature of running is damaging to your joints and tissues. Well, the fact is, running attributes a lot of health benefits, even enough to outweigh the injuries and the overall tedious work.
One of the greatest benefits of running regularly is that it simply is good for you. It increases metabolism, it keeps you heart healthy, and it generally helps you feel younger and look fitter. Plus, do you know that it increases sex drive?
Running is just about everything you will ever need in an exercise. Unlike other exercises that would require fancy equipments and skilled movement, running is one sport that only needs a good pair of shoes to perfect. True, it may be one of the easiest sports to begin with. However, understanding the risk involved with running is your best defense against unwanted injuries. Always be sure to seek help from a professional prior to staring a running program and NEVER fail to consult a physician and wait for him to give you a go signal.
Side from understanding the risk involved in the sport. It may be all too helpful if you know little running basics – the running tracks and the likes. It may not be as all important as learning the proper technique to prevent injury or eating the right food to sustain energy for each run. But knowing a couple of things about running tracks can open up your eyes further about the craft.
What Is A Running Track?
A running track is that rubberized flooring with accurately measured lines that runners run on. It can be made out entirely different materials depending on the type of field installed on. It can vary from indoor or outdoor use. It can also vary upon the request of the field owner if he would prefer a more durable type.
A running track is essentially installed to avoid runners slipping on wooden or hard ground. It is also made to avoid running injuries. You see, a running track is made to be a little cushioned; this is so to prevent the impact of your legs to the ground thus preventing injuries. Cushioning is also the key principles that one must consider if one wants to run safely. These cushioning are provided by a running track just in case your shoes could not provide all the cushioning you’ll need.
The dimensions of a running track also vary depending on which running event would take place. The standard dimensions for the width, preferably the one in the east or west direction, is 70 meters to 104 meters, the length can also be between 193 meters to 170 meters. For the equal quadrant track, with each running lane at 1.067 meters each, the dimensions are roughly about 179 meters by 79 meters for a 6 lane track and 183 meters by 83 meters for an eight lane running track.
Sure, sure, getting to know your running track may not be the most important things to learn when you want to start on running. But as they always say, these are good to know.
